Dr. Peter Kahle is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas who has over twenty years of experience in counseling. Before entering private practice full time, he was the senior psychologist at the Texas Woman’s University Counseling Center, Dallas campuses, for five years. Dr. Kahle was also a faculty member and advisory council member of the Reunion Institute in Dallas for fifteen years. He earned a Ph.D. and M. A. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University and a B. A. in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. In 1998, Dr. Kahle was a contributing author in the best seller 101 More Interventions in Family Therapy (The Haworth Press) where he addressed an innovative therapeutic strategy that focuses on the strengths of clients to help them grow success in their lives. In 2000, he received national acclaim in USA Today for his cutting edge work in the area of integrating spirituality and psychotherapy. He has presented workshops at numerous national and state conferences, training hundreds of professionals, on this important topic. His book, entitled The Power of Spirituality in Therapy: Integrating Spiritual and Religious Beliefs in Mental Health Practice (the Haworth Press), was released in March 2004 to very favorable reviews. Dr. Kahle is a noted clinician, author, presenter, and researcher in the area of the integration of spirituality and psychotherapy. His dissertation, entitled The Influence of the Person of the Therapist on the Integration of Spirituality and Psychotherapy, was noted by James and Melissa Griffith as one of the most informative studies in this area in their book, Encountering the Sacred in Psychotherapy: How to talk with people about their Spiritual Lives (for more on this topic, please go to Why Spiritually Based Counseling?). Dr. Kahle’s talented and beautiful wife, Amber, a former Stephen F. Austin State University volleyball standout, is a registered nurse in a local school district. They, along with their two daughters, love playing volleyball and basketball, and are very active in a local Christian church. |
